WHO recognized to Mexico by the effort against A(H1N1) epidemic

Geneve. May 21th. Margaret Chan, General Director of the World Health Organization (WHO), recognized to Mexico by the effort carried out against A(H1N1) epidemic and qualified it “a brilliant example by its transparency and cooperation with the international community”.
During the meeting by the 62 World Assembly of the Health, in Geneva, Switzerland reaffirmed that the Organization has not recommended the closure of borders neither prohibition of trips and asked to avoid to take unnecessary actions “when a crisis is overreacted, the economy is affected and the life of the population” assured.
Piden al G-7 retirar restricción a vuelos

El secretario de Salud, José Ángel Córdova solicitó a los integrantes del Grupo de los 7 que levanten las restricciones comerciales y de turismo que enfrentan los países afectados por la epidemia de influenza, como es el caso de México.
En la reunión en Ginebra de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), Córdova Villalobos demandó a los integrantes de este grupo integrado por Francia, Gran Bretaña, Japón, Estados Unidos, Canadá, Italia y Alemania, que “envíen una señal clara al mundo entero de que es seguro mantener las relaciones comerciales”.
Precisó que más que restricciones comerciales, debe haber “muestras de solidaridad ante una situación global de alerta pandémica como la que actualmente se vive, ya que es ejemplo para cualquier escenario similar en el futuro”.

G-7 asked to stop flight restrictions

Geneva, May 20th. Mexico’s Tourism secretary, José Ángel Córdova [on a press conference prior to his return to Mexico], asked Group 7 country members to stop commercial and tourism restrictions imposed on countries affected by the influenza epidemic, such as Mexico.
On the World Health Organization Assembly in Geneva, Córdova Villalobos demmanded that members of this group, France, Great Britain, Japan, USA, Canada, Italy and Germany, “send a clear signal to the whole world that it’s safe to sustain commercial relations”.
He stressed that more than commercial restrictions, there should be “gestures of solidarity at the front of a global pandemic alert as the one we currently face, as it will serve as an example for any similar scenario in the future”.

Reconoce la OMS el trabajo de México ante crisis de A(H1N1)

La directora de la OMS, Margaret Chan, hizo un reconocimiento a México por el esfuerzo realizado ante la epidemia de influenza A(H1N1) y lo calificó como “un ejemplo brillante por su transparencia y cooperación con la comunidad internacional”.
Dentro de la 62 Asamblea Mundial de la Salud en Ginebra, Suiza, reiteró que la OMS no ha ordenado ni recomendado el cierre de fronteras ni la prohibición de viajes, debido a que cuando se sobre reacciona, se irrumpe la economía y la vida de la población.
